“Borrego” is the Spanish word for the bighorn sheep which also happen to be the stars of California’s Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

And on my several hikes with fifth graders this last February and March, we got lucky enough to see the sheep – including their lambs – several times.

But this spring in the desert was also great for wildflowers.
